What is Startup Chile and what are you going to do in Santiago?

StartUp Chile is a program to attract foreign high-potential entrepreneurs to Chile. They bootstrap their businesses in Santiago and help Chile to become an innovation and entrepreneurial hub for Latin America.

In 2010, 23 teams have got picked by an admission process conducted by Silicon Valley experts and a Chilean Innovation board to get a $40,000 subsidy (no equity) to participate in a six-months program and develop their projects along with access to the most potent social and capital networks in Chile.

There will be 300 participants in 2011, and I’m one of them. In the next 6 months I’m supposed to participate in local events, present workshops, raise local or international capital and hire chilean talents.

Why are they doing this?

Start-Up Chile is fully supported by the Chilean Government with special consideration of the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. You can read more on Forbes or TechCrunch.

Okay, but what is your business about?

For the the past 7 years I’ve been working with Human Capital Management. Started with eLearning, then some Talent de Development and Knowledge Management. In 2010 I joined a startup focused in Career Advice, had a really good time, and now I’m starting a company with Ronaldo Martins and Daniel Romualdo called JobConvo.

A Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform, JobConvo is a cost-effective solution to speed up your Recruitment process with asynchronous video job interview. No softwares or download required for you or your candidates.

Creating a 30-minute interview script and sending out invites takes less than 5 minutes. Your candidates can choose the best time to record it and you are able to review it as soon as they submit the interview.

What do you think? Does it sound like a good value proposition to you? Sign up for a Beta invite and drop me a line about what you think, okay?
